The Warriors main pitch was out of action, due to vandals demolishing the post, which seems to be a common theme across rugby pitches at the minute, we set off for their alternative pitch, which had not been marked out, thanks, Bradford Council. The referee was for calling the game off and awarding the win to the BUffaloes, but a couple of quick phone calls meant that we could use the pitch at near by West Bowling.
Both teams jumped into cars and buses and headed the short distance to the new pitch, and with a 15-minute delay, the game was underway.
The game started brightly for the Buffaloes when in the third minute, Winger Rob Brown, received a pass from Nathan Hammond, who had just run 70 metres, to score the opening try of the game, with Aaron Henry adding the conversion, giving the Buffaloes the lead, 0-6.
Three minutes later, Aiden Baranyi, cross for the second Buffaloes try, with Henry, unsuccessful with the conversion, making the score 0-10.
In the tenth minute, there was a sight to behold, when the Buffaloes won a scrum against the head and went on the attack.
On 17 minutes, Henry crossed for his first try of the afternoon, adding the conversion as well, making the score 0-18.
In the 21st Minute, Curtis Sidebottom, when on one of his, now trademark, runs, leaving defenders in his wake.
Seven minutes later, one of the WWibsey players dropped the ball in a tackle, and Henry swooped on the ball to score an unconverted try. Extending the lead to 0-20.
On 32 minutes, Wibsey were in for their first try of the afternoon, following a Buffalo’s mistake, Daniel Conroy, picked up the loose ball and scored a try with Joe Ratcliffe adding the conversion, narrowing the lead to 6-20.
Three minutes later, Cameron McLachlan crashed over for a try under the posts with Henry adding the extra two points, making the score 6-26. As the ball sailed over the posts, the referee blew for half time.
Four minutes into the second half, Connor McGill broke free of the Wibsey defence, and sprinted away, drawing the tacklers and passing the ball to Henry, who raced away for his third try of the afternoon. He coolly added the conversion, to make the score 6-32.
On 49 minutes, Brown raced away from the defence and crossed out wide for an unconverted try, increasing the lead to 6-36.
The rest of the second half was turgid, littered with mistakes from both sides, and very little attacking play.
In the 59th minute, McLachlan was sin-binned for being deliberately offside at a penalty.
In the 75th minute, Brad Wilson, scored a try, initially breaking the line, and feeding McGill, who took on a couple of defenders, before passing the ball back to the supporting Wilson, who scored under the posts, with Henry adding the conversion, making the score, 6-42.
Three minutes later and Wibsey rounded off the afternoons scoring, when hooker, Josh Chamberlain, took a quick tap at a penalty, ran into a Buffalo defender, expecting a penalty. But, instead, was waved at by the referee to play on, and skipped around the bewildered defence for a try, which Ratcliffe converted, making the final score, 12-42.
