Rugby League side Bramley Buffaloes are performing in UNISON thanks to a recent sponsorship deal with the Leeds UNISON Local Government Branch, which is part of the giant union that looks after the working conditions of 1.3 million people!
Leeds UNISON steward and Bramley fan Glen Pickersgill read about the club’s perilous predicament in February and decided to get his union involved as sleeve sponsor on the club’s new Co-operative National League jerseys: “The club needs fans and sponsors to stay alive and I’m pleased to say that I’m helping to combine the two.
“The club has notched six wins from six starts this season and they’re playing some fantastic and entertaining rugby. I guess you could say they really are playing in Unison!” added Glen.
Leeds Unison joins fellow union RMT as well as PRomotion, National Express, Bramley Today and Resource as major backers of the club with a major sponsor being PPD (leeds) Ltd.
Chair Martyn Cheney commented: “The club is getting back on track and we’re attracting a lot of new sponsors who are interested in getting behind the truly fascinating and pioneering legacy that Bramley Buffaloes aims to continue.
“The support of Unison is a great boost for the Buffaloes and allows us to keep putting on top class rugby league in West Leeds,” added Cheney.
