Six or more goals in a match

The first Bramley goal-kicker to kick six goals in a match happened when Bramley lost 21-53 at Wigan in March 1935 when Welshman Ivor Rees had the goal-kicking role.  It would be just a month short of eleven years before Jack Gibson created a new goals-in-a-match record for the amber and blacks when he kicked nine goals in the record-breaking 51-3 home victory against Hull Juniors in the Rugby League Challenge Cup.

Tries in a season record-breakers

Bramley record points total in a match

The first season in the Northern Union saw Bramley score a 17pts to 3 home victory over Bradford on 16th January 1897.  Forward Watkin leading the way with two tries, with right centre and right winger Ward and Hambrecht also touching down.  Watkin and Ward also kicked one goal apiece.

Goals in a season

In their first season in the “Northern Union” (1896-97) full-back Saynor topped the goal charts with six goals which was a third of the total goals kicked by the Bramley team for that season.  The following season saw Saynor create a new goals-in-a-season record when he completed 20 successful attempts.

Bramley Hat-trick Heroes

Amazingly the first hat-trick of tries scored by a Bramley player after joining the Northern Union in 1896 was when right centre Joe Sedgewick crossed for an incredible seven tries in the 39-3 club record victory against Normanton at the Barley Mow in April 1906, a Bramley record that has never been broken.

The Internationals of Bramley

Just as Bramley’s long history up to 1999 is not littered with trophies won, and Cup Finals contested the club has not often been in the forefront when representative honours are being distributed.  No player has yet represented Great Britain in a Test Match while on the Bramley books and only one player has won a place in an England side since the club joined the Northern Union (Rugby League) in 1896-97.
