A Grey and overcast afternoon saw an enthralling battle between the Buffaloes and the Lions. The game could have gone either way and wasn’t settled until two minute from time.
Bramley opened the scoring in the 2nd minute when Hooker, Graham Harrison, nipped through a hole in the defence to score.
In the 13th minute, Buffaloes Man of the match ben Dean cracked open the West Hull Defence and sent Centre Craig Green in for the second try, Hooker Harrison converting the try to make the score 10 – 0.
On the quarter mark West Hull Lions opened their account when Ben Townsend, scooted over for a try, converted by hooker Lewis Colrein, making the score 10-6.
4 minutes later the buffaloes were in again when Dean, raced over for a try converted again by Harrison, increase the buffaloes lead to 16-6
In the 28th minute the Lions were over again, when fullback Mike Ellis scored, with the try converted by Colrein, making the score 16-12.
Two minutes before the break Aaron Blake scored a try for the Buffaloes, and on the stroke of half time, lions second rower Aaron Hickinbotham powered his way through for a try again converted by Colrein. Making the half time score 20 – 18.
The Second half started the as the first half did with the buffaloes opening the scoring when Terry Brown went over for a try.
In the 47th Minutes Lions Centre Townsend scored again, narrowing the gap to 24-22.
Straight from the kick off the Lions were in again following some poor buffaloes defence, with winger Kirk Ledger scoring to give West Hull the lead for the first time, 24-26
Four minutes later the buffaloes were in for their final score of the afternoon when débutante winger Jerome Malcolm raced 60 metres for a try, converted by Jake Doyle, making the score 30-26.
The next 20 minutes were end-to-end action with neither team able to break down each other’s defence.
In the 72nd minute Ben Coupland scored an unconverted try, followed by Lewis Crowther in the 78th Minutes and Lions Man of the Match Harry Tyson Wilson completed the scoring making the final score, 30 – 38
