On Saturday 18th January 2013 Supporters Direct are hosting a mini conference for all Rugby League fans and clubs as well as fans of all sports to find out about Supporters Direct, celebrate the game, network together, and hear from the governing body, the Rugby Football League. It will give fans the chance to have a look at the brand new KC North Stand at Craven Park.
The day focuses on growth and we will hear from David Gent, the RFL Director of Participation and Strategic Partnerships and Blake Solly, RFL Director of Standards & Licensing who will join a panel of speakers for a lively debate on the subject “How can fan representation and ownership within Rugby League grow the game within England & Wales?” along with Mike Smith, the CEO of Hull KR, Phil Caplan and Liz Hindley, an elected member of the Supporters Direct Board.
There will be break out workshops for delegates on issues including; the National Club Development by the RFL, The Community Right to Bid under the Localism Act 2011 and Community Engagement and “Raising Finance for supporters trusts”.
In these times of austerity and financial difficulties, the co-operative values and principles throw a lifeline to small businesses, individuals personal financial planning and hit at the heart of UK communities.
The day commences at 10:30, closing at 15:30 with lunch and refreshments provided. There will be an exhibition area with information about the RFL, Hull City Council’s Sport & Physical Activity, Credit Unions, Co-operative Energy, regional Co-operative movement and opportunities for networking with fans of other Rugby League clubs from around the country.
