Buffaloes Gain Edge Over Warriors

Hunslet Warriors (0) 6 Vs. Bramley Buffaloes (0) 8

The Buffaloes travelled the short distance to Hunslet Warriors for the second of the Leeds Derby’s on another cold and blustery afternoon.

Defence was the order of the day and an absorbing game took place before an enthusiastic crowd.

In the first half the Buffaloes had the majority of the possession, but were unable to turn the pressure into points. A glut of penalties to both sides slowed the play down, with one player from each side spending time in the sin bin, first to go was Warriors Aaron Pratt, followed 15 minutes later by the Buffaloes debutant, Jonny Bradley.

The first half ended scoreless and after a very short halftime break the play resumed with the buffaloes on the attack and in the 43rd minute Centre Chris Thompson finished off a fine move for the opening score of the game, giving the Buffaloes the lead 0-4.

The end-to-end action continued for until the 63rd minute when the Warriors powered the defence to score in the corner with the try being converted giving them the lead for 6-4.

4 minutes later Aaron Blake broke the warriors defence with a clean break and raced 40 metres only to be brought down by the full back.

With 6 minutes to go Full back, Terry Brown, finished off a flowing move to score out wide for an unconverted try, giving the Buffaloes the lead again 6-8.

The rest of the game was frantic as two tiring teams tried to get the decisive score that would finish the others off, with both teams having several chances to score but the defences of both sides were steadfast and refused to give an inch.
