On a sunny but cool evening, the Bramley Buffaloes played Milford Marlins in their first game at their new home, the Canal Bank Ground.
The game didn’t start too well for the Bramley team when the Milford kick off bounced and went into touch, giving the Milford the head and feed at the scrum, two plays later, man of the match Matt Bracksom, forced his way over for a try, converted by Ryan Oxtoby. Making the score 0-6.
The Buffaloes trying to strike back immediately but were repelled time and a time again, until the 12th minute, when Alex Brier was over for a try following a Chip and chase by Hooker Craig Boot, who collected his kick and feed Brier for the try, converted by Steve Suddards. Levelling the scores 6-6.
Three minutes later winger Liam Copland followed a high Kick by Suddards and picked up the loose ball for his first try of the evening, again converted by Suddards, giving the Buffaloes the lead 12-6.
In the 20th minute Copland was in again, the ball was bouncing around in the 20 metre zone and was scooped up by Copland, for a try converted by Suddards, making the score 18-6.
In the 25th Minute, man of the match Robin Wilkes, broke through the Milford defence, passing on the inside to Nathan Hammond, who sprinted away from the chasing defence to score under the post, with Suddards adding the extra two points, making the score 24-6.
Three minutes later, Hammond was over again, when he broke through the flaying defence for a converted try with Suddards on target again increasing the lead to 30-6.
The Buffaloes were on the attack for the remained of the first half, but the Milford defence had rallied and kept them out.
Four minutes in to the second half, the Buffaloes were in again, when Copland broke the defence and passed to the supporting Matty Harding who raced away to score close to the posts, with Suddards adding the conversion making the score 36-6.
In the 48th minute Craig Boot broke through the defensive line and scored an unconverted try making the score, 40-6.
In the 51st minute Brier broke free of the tacklers and passed to Dean who raced 25 metres for a converted try, with Suddards again on target, making the score 46-6.
In the 63rd minutes Milford were on the score sheet again with Bracksom scooting through some tired defence for an unconverted try, making the score 46-10.
The Buffaloes finished the scoring in the 67th minute when Harding went over for his second of the evening with Suddards adding the extra two points to make the score 52-10.
