Buffaloes Work Hard for Draw - Bramley Buffaloes

The opening game in the forty-20 Yorkshire Men’s League, for the Bramley Buffaloes saw them draw 22 all against a spirited Stanningley Team.

The Conditions were prefect for fast free flowing Rugby League and that’s what the large crowd saw.  Stanningley Centre John Sheron opened the scoring in the 8th Minute with a short dash over the line with the try converted by Tom Kent.

The Buffaloes replied on 17 minutes with winger Terry Brown squeezing in in the corner with Steve Suddards converting the try to bring the scores level at 6 all

9 minutes later the returning Craig Green broke through the Stanningley defence for a try again out wide.  This was converted by Shudders, giving the buffaloes the lead 12 – 6

Another returning player Daz Forster barged through the defence for and unconverted try. Making the score 16-6.

Right on the stroke of half time with the buffaloes on the attack centre John Sheron intercepted a loose Bramley pass and tore away for a 70 metre run to make the half time scores 16-10 to the buffaloes.

In the Second half defences were at the fore as both teams were striving for the break that would put them in the clear.

In the 51st minute Stanningley Man of the Match Jack Burrell strode through some poor Bramley defence for his first try of the afternoon, making the score 16-14

6 minutes later Burrell was in again to give Stanningley the lead again 16-18.

Stanningley increased their lead in the 62nd minute, when prop Mark Dorgan capitalised again on some loose defence to make the score 16-22.

Three minutes later the buffaloes were in to level the scores when hooker Ben Pitts when in for a close range try, again converted again by Shudders.

The Remain 15 minutes were frantic, with the action flowing from end to end as both teams tried to capitalise on any mistake.  For ten of those minutes the Buffaloes were down to 12 men when Man of the Match Ben Dean was sin binned following the Pitts try.
