CO-OPERATIVE RUGBY LEAGUE CONFERENCE NATIONAL 2009 AWARD NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

The short lists have been drawn up for this season’s Co-operative Rugby League Conference National end of season awards as the competition enters its eagerly-anticipated play off phase this weekend.

Based principally on man of the match nominations from the weekly rounds, chosen by the teams, the candidates for ‘Player Of The Year’ and ‘Young Player of the Year’ are as follows:

RLCN PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Paul Drake (Bramley Buffaloes)
Martin Gambles (Liverpool Buccaneers)
Adam Millward (Nottingham Outlaws)

RLCN YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Jamie Acton (Hemel Stags)
Billy Sheen (Warrington Wizards)
Alex Walmsley (Dewsbury Celtic)

In addition, the RLCN Management will select a ‘Coach of the Year’. Winners will be announced at the prestigious Co-operative Championships Dinner in Manchester on Tuesday 29 September.

The play offs for the road to the Halliwell Jones Stadium on 4th October begin this Saturday afternoon, when Featherstone Lions host Warrington Wizards and Nottingham Outlaws face Hemel Stags in the Elimination games. Bramley Buffaloes and Huddersfield Underbank Rangers have the weekend off by virtue of finishing first and second after the 20 regular season rounds.
